Peter Elliott

Past Prince Rat


Rat Register Number: 676, initiated 28 September 1969

A Born in Chatham, Kent, Peter commenced his show business career as a dancer, forming a double act with his then wife Billy Anthony (The Elliotts). Having worked the variety circuit, he then toured Italy as a solo dance act before becoming the juvenile lead at the infamous Windmill Theatre.

It was there that he met comedian Jimmy Edmundson and they joined forces as Edmundson & Elliott, progressing to a highly successful career doing summer seasons, panto and as a resident act on TV with the likes of Billy Cotton Senior.

Going solo again in 1967, Peter then became straight man to star performer Dick Emery.

By 1973, he had decided to retire from performing, joining The Grade Organisation in management. He was also a top pantomime producer until 1989 when he changed course again to take the position of Executive Administrator of The Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund (now known as the Royal Variety Charity).
