Alvin Stardust

Rat Register Number: 873, initiated 2 October 2011.

Born Bernard Jewry in Muswell Hill.

Found early fame, in the 1960s, as Shane Fenton (with The Fentones), then re-invented himself to become a leading star of the 1970s Glam Rock scene as Alvin Stardust.

Also became a symbol on TV as a supporter of the road safety scheme The Green Cross Code.

Hit records include My Coo Ca Choo, Jealous Minds and Feel Like Buddy Holly (penned by Brother Water Rat Mike Batt).

Appeared in several musicals... 'Godspell', 'David Copperfield', 'The Butlin Story' (as Sir Billy) and as The Child Catcher in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'.

In 1989 he presented his own Sunday morning TV series 'It's Stardust'.

Survived by his wife, actress Julie Paton, and their daughter, Millie. Three children from two previous marriages; Shaun, Adam and Sophie.
