BIOGRAPHY

Born in Erdington, Birmingham on 20 July 1943, John Charles Lodge is the legendary bass guitarist, singer and songwriter of the world-renowned group The Moody Blues. A natural musician from an early age, John first picked up a guitar at thirteen and quickly developed the distinctive sound that would help define a generation of music lovers.

After studying engineering at Aston College, John joined
The Moody Blues in 1966 and went on to write and perform many of their greatest hits, including Ride My See-Saw, Isn’t Life Strange and I’m Just a Singer (In a Rock & Roll Band). His powerful bass lines and soaring vocals became a signature of the band’s success as they sold millions of records and toured the globe.

Away from the group, John has enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing acclaimed albums such as
Natural Avenue and 10,000 Light Years Ago, and recording the celebrated Blue Jays album with fellow Moody, Justin Hayward. His work has been honoured with numerous awards, including an Ivor Novello and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

A true gentleman of music, John continues to perform around the world, delighting audiences with his energy, warmth and unmistakable sound.
