ROD WOODWARD
BIOGRAPHY
Rod Woodward is a Welsh stand-up comedian celebrated for his warm stage presence, sharp timing and intelligent observational humour. Cardiff-born and the son of respected sports writer Karl Woodward, Rod first stepped into comedy while still at university and quickly decided to pursue it full-time.
He began his career providing studio warm-ups for ITV Wales before moving into stand-up, and within his first year reached the final of the So You Think You’re Funny competition at the Edinburgh Fringe. Early recognition followed with the Best Newcomer Variety award and a win in the Funny Business competition run by BBC Wales. He soon wrote and presented the television show A Bit Off The Fringe for BBC2W, fronted the radio series Doing It For A Laugh on BBC Radio Wales and starred in his own BBC1 Wales special Am I Talking To You?
Rod’s career highlights include two appearances at the Royal Variety Performance, first in 2014 before The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and again in 2018 before Prince Harry and Meghan. He has performed on Tonight at the London Palladium, supported comedians such as Paddy McGuinness and Russell Brand on national tours, and continues to tour his own one-man shows, including Funny Turn, I’m Not Being Funny But… and For The Record.
Known for mixing everyday observations with clever wordplay and an easy rapport with audiences, Rod Woodward remains one of Wales’ most accomplished and widely admired comedy performers.
