BIOGRAPHY
ROBERT J. SHERMAN comes from a long line of songwriters and composers spanning more than four generations.
At 16, he joined BMI (Broadcast Music, Incorporated) becoming one of its youngest writers at the time. Since then, Sherman's career has focused on musical writing for theatre, film and TV. He is a songwriter and composer, also often serving as a theatrical book writer as well. Musical Theatre credits: LOVE BIRDS (Pleasance, Edinburgh), A SPOONFUL OF SHERMAN (UK/Ireland tour, Live At Zédel, The Other Palace), BUMBLESCRATCH (Adelphi Theatre), A CHRISTMAS HELD CAPTIVE (Beverly Hills Playhouse). Film (songwriting) credits: AMAZON JACK (Columbia TriStar), THE MAGIC 7 (Pulse Entertainment). Upcoming projects: INKAS THE RAMFERINKAS (animated musical), THE MAGIC FLUTE (stage musical), THE PENGUIN PIRATE (animated musical) and ANTARCTICLAUS (a Christmas Musical). Sherman is an alumnus of USC's School of Cinema/TV Filmic Writing program as well as BMI’s Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. He is the Chairman and Co-Founder of Sherman Theatrical Entertainment and serves as General Partner for Music World LP.
Since 2017, Sherman has been a proud member of the Grand Order of Water Rats. He resides in London, England.
