
NEIL MORRISSEY
BIOGRAPHY
British actor, voice artist and entrepreneur Neil Morrissey is best known for his long-running role as Tony Smart in the hit BBC sitcom Men Behaving Badly, which made him one of the most recognisable faces on British television in the 1990s. Born on 4 July 1962 in Stafford, Staffordshire, Neil trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama before launching a varied career on stage and screen.
He first gained attention in the drama Boon and went on to appear in popular series including Paradise Heights, Waterloo Road, Line of Duty, Grantchester, The Good Karma Hospital, Unforgotten and The Syndicate. Comedy has remained a strong part of his work, with acclaimed roles in Men Behaving Badly, Bob Martin and Carrie and Barry, as well as guest appearances in shows such as Skins, Death in Paradise and Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars.
Neil is also the original voice of Bob the Builder, bringing the beloved character to life in the animated series, films and music releases, which achieved international success and a UK number one single. His stage credits range from West End productions such as Guys and Dolls to national tours including A Passionate Woman and The Rocky Horror Show.
Away from acting, he has pursued business ventures, including running pubs and restaurants, while continuing to balance drama, comedy, and voice work across television, film and theatre.
